Web Design

Every site we craft is lovingly designed by hand and each project has a unique style and result. We start with a few design concepts. These ideas are each different and may span a wide range of colors and layouts. The important thing is creating a beautiful and usable space for your web presence. It should speak volumes about who you are and we make sure that happens!

Once those pixels are whipped into perfect form, Idea Canvas will convert the illustrated concept into a real working model of your site. At this stage, we hand code XHTML and CSS (cryptic languages that proper websites use) into shape and deliver a link for you to preview several templates for the home page and content pages. If you opt out of our development services, you'll have your developer take it from here and fit the templates to your site. Web Management

A website just isn't the same without a domain name and web host. Setting up these two necessaries isn't really a cinch, unless you know what you are doing. You are welcome to bring your own. We are happy developing on most hosts. But if you want Idea Canvas to take the wheel, we'll fix you right up with any available domain of your choice (or a bunch of them!) and a top-notch web host. You are certainly welcome to find you own host. We'll still manage the process from start to finish. We have a short list of requirements for any host we use, but most already comply.

Training

Depending on the services you choose, we can provide free training and support for a pre-established period of time, usually six months. For the training portion, we have pre-recorded screencasts for you to use as a visual guide for step-by-step instruction on managing your website. If you wish, we can also provide customized screencasts that teach using your own site with real world examples of content publishing for every dynamic section we build.

Other training services are available, even as a standalone service. We can train your employees on standards-based web design or consult with your web team about best practices. There are so many options available, contact us to learn about ways we can tailor a training program for you or your company.

Consultation

Every site starts with basic consultation. We're here to answer any questions that you have about the web. If you choose to have us take on your project, we'll start with the consultation process to learn about your digital communication needs and determine the best solution to fit you and your budget.

If you have an existing site and need advice or if would prefer to lean on our expertise while handling your own web construction project, we offer consultation services at a flat hourly rate. From advising you on the latest and greatest trends to simply throwing up an assist to solve a problem on your existing site, we can help. Just ask.

Sometimes we need to start from scratch. Your company or organization might be new or simply in need of a brand refresh. We offer several different branding services, no matter your needs.

Distributed Email Campaigns

While the Web is a constant open door, it is still a "pull" method of communications. Gradually, the Web has been developed to offer "push" methods of content distribution. RSS is one particularly notable innovation in this arena.

But when it comes right down to it, email is still the most common method of push communication. That's why so many businesses choose to supplement their existing Web identities with strategic email campaigns. You can deliver that timely, dynamic content right to your visitor's inbox.

We can handle every step of this process, from the design of the campaign to the "Send" button. Your email will look great in most of the mail applications and webmail sites. And for those really tricky applications that adhere to older standards of building, we'll make sure the design looks as good as possible!

Once your campaign is sent, sit back and watch the statistics roll in. We track every click of your campaign recipients, even showing you who does what.

Statistics, Metrics, Analytics

Call it what you want—whatever your flavor, we track it. In most cases, we opt to let Google Analytics tell you what's up. But if you'd like a custom installation of some other web stats engine, we'll deploy it for you. For what it's worth, we love Mint and AWstats, too.

Content Syndication

RSS? You got it. Now you can distribute your content in ways unimaginable just a few short years ago. Send your feed to web services like Facebook or Twitter. Or allow your site visitors to keep tabs on your new content in their feed reader.

Low-Budget Options

Not every business is ready for that flagship website. While we believe strongly that a well-designed and developed website is key to any organization, we know it's simply not in the budget for some. To that end, we offer a few simple, low-budget options. Obviously, you'll be very involved in these projects. We just can't devote many hours to these projects. But we can get a web presence established very quickly—in some cases as quickly as one to two days.

Photography

We can get you on the web in style and we can shoot you, too. Yep. We offer a full range of photographic services. Need simple staff head shots? No sweat. Want some candids of your organization in action? We'll be there. Need to hire someone to capture that special event? Idea Canvas can capture every important moment. This service is a great fit if:

We will create images of you and your business that look fantastic. Once we're done, every RAW and JPEG-compressed digital image is yours to store and re-purpose however you see fit! We'll even make appointments for future shoots if you are waiting on that weather to turn. Photography services are local to metropolitan Washington, DC, unless travel arrangements are provided by the client in the project contract.

Support

We provide support for every project we are involved in. Depending on the scope of your project, we may have free support options for a period of time following your project's launch.
